Office Assistant (Part-Time)
Job Overview:
Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Fruitland Park, is seeking a Part-time Office Assistant to enhance its mission of inviting, welcoming, and connecting all people to God and one another in Christ. He/She is responsible for disseminating parish-related information – creating, developing, producing, and distributing information in a variety of formats. He/She serves as a link within Holy Trinity and between our parish and the greater community. A suitable candidate will have at least 1 year experience in communications or administrative role and a willingness to serve in a religious setting. Qualifications:
· Experience in a business or not-for-profit organization
· Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. A knowledge of email communication services such as MailChimp, Constant Contact, etc. is a plus. Proficient with social media.
· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
· Must be proficient in English grammar with proficient research, interpretive, writing, proofreading, and editing skills
· Mature judgment to work with a wide range of constituencies and the ability to make decisions and provide leadership related to parish communications
Principal Responsibilities:
· Produce weekly e-newsletter – solicit and edit announcements from clergy, staff,
and ministry leaders as needed;
· Design and produce Sunday bulletins, announcements, and bulletin inserts as directed by clergy, staff, and ministry leaders;
· Design and produce ministry brochures, staff business cards, posters, postcards, and other publications as necessary in support of the ministries of the church;
· Post newsletters, bulletins, e-ministries, and other announcements to the Holy Trinity’s website and Facebook page weekly (at minimum);
· Produce other communication materials as needed;
· Maintain membership and contribution data
· Help with parish functions as required, especially the annual meeting and annual ministry fair;
· Team player who strives to maintain a positive, professional, welcoming atmosphere in the church office;
· Regularly update parish hall bulletin boards, and brochure racks; keep information up to date;
· Maintain office equipment and supplies and arrange for service as necessary;
· Provide support for office volunteers;
· Maintain parish prayer list, flower donor list; etc.
· Interact with the public (Answer phones as necessary; Greet people at front desk)
· Perform other duties on request to assist the rector and/or associate rector;
· Uphold Holy Trinity’s mission statement.
· Must successfully pass the required criminal background check prior to employment and maintain this clearance.
Future Expectations:
· Acquire proficiency in parish membership and contribution software (Powerchurch)
· Acquire proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite
